Renovation Offensive Spring 2024

This spectacular path from the Pleisen hut over the Breitgrieskar pass and the Marxkar to the Karwendel house, which follows the tracks of the legendary Pleisen-Toni and his moose skeleton, has largely been unmarked and difficult to traverse in recent years. This summer, the tourism association has taken it upon themselves to have the trail restored and equipped with new rope safety measures to re-establish it as a black path on the maps. This task was awarded to mountain guide Peter Janschek for safety, skill, and liability reasons. Hooks, ropes, and other materials were prepared in the workshops of the tourism association's construction yards, and we also handled the administrative matters and flight permits for the helicopter. The costs for the restoration amount to approximately €25,000. An investment to enable more experienced mountaineers to safely access this special trail in the future.

Less spectacular but no less elaborate was the renovation of around 30 benches, 20 loungers, and 50 trash bins along our hiking trails. They were built and prepared in the workshops of the TVB construction yards, subsequently assembled and set up on-site. For the loungers, platforms also had to be constructed on-site. As part of the renovation, both old models damaged by the weather were replaced and new locations were equipped. Additionally, well-preserved benches from the Leutasch Tourism Association (VVL) were provided with new regional signs. However, the work of the construction yard employees is not done with the setup: Benches and loungers – the region includes well over 1,000 of them – must be regularly checked and their locations mowed, the trash bins need to be emptied. To have a better overview of these small but significant infrastructure items and the associated work in the future, they are currently all being digitally recorded, just like the signage in the region. Despite the in-house work, costs for materials and labor were, of course, incurred in this project as well: Roughly calculated, a trash bin costs 300 €, a bench 500 €, and a lounger 1,500 €.

Finally, the TVB also participated in the renovation of the music pavilion along with the forecourt in Weidach, which the municipality of Leutasch commenced this year. Since we also benefit from the concerts and events held there, we took over the electrification and half of the new roofing. The newly designed event location will be festively opened today, on July 22, 2024, at the Magdalena Church Festival. The new roofing will be completed in the fall.
