Equipment tip: Poles & Crampons
A good pair of poles with large baskets is never a mistake while hiking and provides more grip and comfort in winter as well. For those who want to play it safe, it's a good idea to strap on a pair of “crampons” on your hiking boots. These robust spikes were specially designed for winter hiking and provide reliable grip on snow and ice. Both aids are available in the sports stores of the region. We particularly recommend products from the Austrian quality brands Komperdell and Snowline.
