Team Plateau

The Climate Council in Reith and Leutasch made a start in 2023. Engaged citizens discussed initial fields of action and thematic priorities and defined the next steps to be taken. The establishment of Tyrol's high plateau as a climate and energy model region marked a new milestone. In January 2025, the KEM was presented to the public, and initial interested parties for a so-called transformation team have come forward.

The previously theoretical idea of assembling a team of transformers to shape the future of the region has since developed into a concrete project between the KEM Seefelder Plateau and the Seefeld Tourism Association. Together with the municipalities, the Team Plateau aims to establish a permanent, open network. All residents of the five plateau municipalities can participate; age, education, political or tourist experience do not matter. Because the Team Plateau is meant to represent every perspective that exists on Tyrol's high plateau.

"It is important to us that everyone feels addressed," says TVB Managing Director Elias Walser. "No political or tourism background or experience is required. Every input is valuable." Students and young people are also explicitly addressed as the future bearers of the region. "But seniors are equally important. They have often lived on the plateau for a very long time and have experienced the region in completely different times. This life experience is just as valuable as the fresh, untainted perspective of the younger generation."

Participation in the Team Plateau is voluntary; you can join and leave at any time. The members are to collectively gather ideas and define future projects. Five thematic focuses are predefined, and an open topic storage is available for all other concerns and ideas. The official kick-off for the citizen participation process will take place with a large event at the Sport & Congress Center Seefeld (Olympia Hall) on Monday, October 6, 2025, at 5:30 PM. After a short impulse presentation by Marlene Buchinger, engineer for renewable energy and sustainability expert, there will be a cozy get-together with regional specialties where ideas will already be collected, discussed, and prioritized at various themed tables regarding the different areas of action. These will subsequently be reviewed by a steering committee after the event. Following this, each participant can choose his/her area of action and contribute to it during upcoming meetings of the Team Plateau members. There, concrete initiatives and projects for the future will be defined and their implementation initiated.
