The Summer Season 2025 in Numbers
It may not have been a record summer, and the many rainy days are still fresh in our memory. However, the figures from the summer season show a solid upward trend, once again establishing us as an extremely strong tourist region throughout Tyrol.
Among the 34 recorded tourism regions in Tyrol, Tyrol's Hochplateau ranks fifth as of the cut-off date 31.10.2025, achieving its strongest summer season result in years. The spectacular weather in October certainly contributed to this. However, the growth rates of a solid 4.7% in arrivals and 3.3% in overnight stays reveal no extraordinary movements, but rather a sustainable development.
Back to the level of 2019
A similar situation applies in comparison with the summer of 2019, the last summer before the Corona pandemic, whose result we surpass for the first time in the summer season of 2025 with 1,123,575 overnight stays (accessed on fact.tirol on December 9, 2025). Tirol's high plateau records smaller increases than the other top five regions, but it's precisely through its consistent growth that it stands out among them. In terms of arrivals, we are even significantly ahead with 345,841 compared to the fourth-ranked vacation region of Fügen-Kaltenbach.
In the municipalities, Seefeld ranks fourth this year, as it did last year, behind Innsbruck, Eben am Achensee, and Mayrhofen. Leutasch comes in at 23rd. Both locations show a stable increase in overnight stays and arrivals compared to 2024 as well as 2019. Notably, there is a positive trend in the longer duration of stay in Leutasch, where summer guests stay an average of 4.2 days, while in Tyrol, they only stay at a location for an average of 3.5 days.
Countries of Origin
There is little change in the distribution of nations compared to previous years. Germany holds the largest market share at around 47%. This is followed by Switzerland, Italy, Austria, and the Netherlands. Compared to the overall Tyrol region, the proportion of Swiss guests is significantly above the average of around 4.5%, with about 12% in the summer and 10.5% in the tourism year 2024/25. In addition, the Arab countries are achieving above-average high values with increases between ten and 20% compared to previous years and 2018/19. China and India are still significantly below their guest numbers from the pre-corona pandemic period.
Tourism Year 2024/25
Looking at the entire tourism year 2024/25, it is noticeable that the Tyrolean high plateau can achieve better values than all of Tyrol. In terms of overnights, we see an increase of 4.5% (Tyrol: 1.7%), and in arrivals an increase of 6.0% (Tyrol: 3.1%). The length of stay in Leutasch is also noteworthy: with 4.6 days, the municipality exceeds the Tyrolean average of 3.9 days. Despite good winter values, summer on the Tyrolean high plateau is the stronger season: Out of a total of 2,079,996 overnights, 54% (absolute: 1,123,575) fall within the months of May to October.
The Regional Profile 2024 from the State Statistics shows the slight dominance of summer reflected in the region's bed occupancy rates. Currently, approximately 12,200 beds are occupied at 37% in winter and 43.2% in summer. The numbers for Tyrol average at 41.2% in winter and 33.4% in summer, which is precisely the opposite. Particularly noteworthy is the high summer occupancy in the 5-star and 4-star categories: Here we achieve 61.6% and thus host a large, affluent audience.
Our strategic focus on discerning travel fans and a gradual expansion of our summer offerings is therefore also clearly reflected in the statistics.
