Route description: After visiting the Hallerangerhaus, follow trail 224 heading west. You pass the Kohleralm and soon reach the Lafatscher Niederleger. Now the route descends somewhat more steeply along the forest road down into the Hinterautal. The Kastenalm can be reached via a short detour at the marked trail junction. From here, you hike continuously along the road out of the valley, passing the Isarursprung. The trail ascends slightly up to the Gleirschhöhe (1069 m) and then descends gently again past the Wiesenhof Lodge, until you finally reach the Isar bridge and subsequently Scharnitz.
