The winter season 2023/24 in numbers

Unlike in our print version, the Seefeld region - Tyrol's high plateau has unfortunately not achieved rank nine in the Tyrol comparison. Due to the correction of the figures (overnight stays) for March and April, we have slipped to rank eleven. This is certainly due to the unusually poor snow conditions this spring and the subsequent worse booking situation. In March, we were surpassed by the glacier-benefiting Stubai region as well as the East Tyrol region, which were still behind us until the end of February. Nevertheless, our decrease compared to the previous year is 2.3%, which is relatively modest. As for arrivals, we can even record a significant increase of 4.0% and thus rank eighth in the Tyrol comparison.

896,607 overnight stays were recorded in the period from November 1, 2023, to April 30, 2024 in Tyrol's high plateau. This represents a decrease of 2.3% compared to the previous year and a slight decline in the length of stay to an average of 4.1 days during the season.

The traditionally strongest month was February, with 281,257 overnight stays, which saw a small increase of 1.9% compared to 2023. The average length of stay remained stable in February at 5.1 days.

In terms of arrivals in the region, 220,019 arrivals were recorded in the period from November 1, 2023, to April 30, 2024, marking an increase of 4.0%. The majority of guests traveled to Seefeld, followed by the towns of Leutasch, Reith bei Seefeld, Mösern-Telfs, and Scharnitz.

As expected, Germany ranks 1st in the national comparison with 520,021 overnight stays and 117,472 arrivals in the winter season 23/24. In 2nd place are the Swiss with 89,396 overnight stays and 22,989 arrivals. The third strongest nation is the Netherlands with 59,620 overnight stays and 10,636 arrivals, followed by Austria with 48,104 overnight stays and 17,545 arrivals in 4th place and England with 33,107 overnight stays and 6,440 arrivals in 5th place.

Not yet known to everyone, the platform "Tirol Tourism Research", abbreviated as TTR, provides the best statistics on Tyrolean tourism. The data on the platform is compiled and processed by the MCI and the State of Tyrol and is unique in Austria in terms of scope and quality.

In the evaluation for 2023, the Seefeld region – Tyrol's high plateau performs very well, maintaining its position as Ninth among the top 10 Tyrolean tourism regions. The 1,935,780 overnight stays are attributed 53 % to winter and 48 % to summer. There is undeniably a decrease of 8.7% compared to the pre-corona year 2019, as well as a decline in beds of 3.8 % in winter and 7.7 % in summer. Nevertheless, which is indeed a positive assessment, the value creation per bed has increased above average. Our tourism businesses generated 14,106 €/bed, which is an increase of around 2,800 € compared to the reference value of 2019. The Tyrolean average is 11,046 €, with an increase of around 1,000 € in the past five years being significantly lower. Only our neighboring regions in the Karwendel, the Silver Region of Schwaz, and Lake Achensee have been able to further increase their revenue per bed.
