In the extensive Kristental valley deep in the Karwendel Nature Park is the Kristenalm at 1,348 metres above sea level. In summer, exhausted hikers find a place to rest and stop for hearty Tyrolean delicacies on the spacious sun terrace. If you feel like it, hike along panoramic paths through the scenic Kristental valley and the unique Karwendel Nature Park.

The ascent to the Kristenalm is from the Scharnitz Nature Park Info Centre and can be easily reached on foot from Scharnitz railway station by bus and train. Car drivers will also find a paid car park at the Info Centre, where you can park for several days without any problems for a small fee. From the information centre, the route follows wide gravel roads along the Isar River and through the Karwendel Valley to the Kristenalm.

  • To the Kristenalm. Easy hike from the Scharnitz Nature Park Info Centre over the Gleirschhöhe into the Kristental valley and on to the alp. It is also possible to cross the Karwendel from the Kristenalm in the direction of Zirl southwards and hike down into the Inntal.

  • Gleirschklamm. Picturesque, moderately difficult circular hike from Scharnitz through the wildly romantic Gleirschklamm gorge. On the way back, you can take a well-deserved break at the Möslalm or the Kristenalm or hike directly along the Isarsteig trail back to Scharnitz.
