Climbing in the Seefeld region
Climbing in Tyrol: Sport Climbing & Via Ferrata in the Karwendel and Wetterstein Mountains
Climbing has been a tradition in the Seefeld region of Tyrol since 1922. Climbing professionals such as Bernhard Prommer, Reini Scherer, and Heinz Zak, along with Bernhard Hangl, have opened tour after tour here and left their marks. For enthusiasts of climbing sports, the Seefeld region offers climbing gardens and via ferratas with varying requirements and difficulty levels. In the region, one can find a true climbing paradise in the municipalities of Scharnitz and Leutasch. Whether simple climbing routes for families or professional sports climbing, climbing fun and variety are guaranteed. The particularly large selection of climbing opportunities attracts both beginners and elite athletes to routes in the Tyrolean mountains.
Since summer 2016, the Seefeld region, along with the town of Leutasch, has been a member of the project Climbers Paradise. The aim of the concept is to improve the quality of climbing infrastructure through appropriate standards and to compile the pertinent data.
With the founding of the "Mauerfix" climbing club, the Austrian Alpine Club has agreed to take over the stewardship of the climbing gardens in the region.
