Our commitment to climate and environmental protection
The Seefeld region is characterized by valuable natural spaces and a unique diversity of species. Between mountains and valleys, forests and meadows, air and water stretches Tirol's high plateau. These precious treasures not only form the heart of tourism but also the basis for the livelihood of people and animals. However, with this privilege comes responsibility: We are committed to protecting our environment and the climate with conviction. Sustainability is not a trend for us, but an attitude – towards nature, our guests, locals, and future generations.
We implement targeted measures to reduce emissions, conserve resources, and contribute to climate and environmental protection. As a tourism association, we take responsibility for our activities and regularly measure our corporate carbon footprint. We focus on renewable energies, efficient biomass heating, the expansion of photovoltaic systems, and energy-efficient technologies such as LED lighting to conserve resources. At the same time, we are committed to preserving and promoting biodiversity through habitat protection and supporting measures to enhance species diversity. An intact nature with rich biodiversity is essential for a stable ecosystem and a livable future.

Projects & Measures for the Protection of Our Nature

Collaboration with the Karwendel Nature Park
We are particularly proud of our close partnership with the Karwendel Nature Park, the largest nature park in Austria. Through intensive collaboration and joint projects, we implement important conservation initiatives (such as reclamation measures, alpine pasture care actions, clearing to combat shrub encroachment, etc.), promote the preservation of the landscape, and simultaneously create unique experiences for our guests.
An important part of our joint efforts is also awareness-raising and sensitization work, which we advance through guided hikes, joint events, and various educational projects.

Together for a clean environment – our CleanUpPlateau Challenge
As part of our annual "Spring Cleaning", we are making a strong statement for environmental protection in the region. The joint litter collection action raises awareness for our precious nature and collects several tons of waste. Every participant who collects a minimum of 5 kg of waste will be rewarded with a restaurant voucher worth € 15, redeemable at businesses on the Plateau – thus, we are doing good not only for the environment but also for our local economy.

Increase in biodiversity through nature-oriented green spaces
Habitat loss due to sealing of surfaces, construction, and pesticide use is also a major problem in Tyrol. To counteract the resulting insect extinction, we rely on diverse, nature-oriented green spaces – for more biodiversity in residential areas. Over 3,000 m² of lawn has already been successfully converted into flower meadows.

Climate-ready Mountain Forest
Our sunny high plateau is characterized by dense forests that not only protect air and water but also provide the basis for sustainable forestry. We are actively committed to making these forests climate-ready and diverse in species. Therefore, most of the spruce trees on a forest property in the region were felled, and dead wood as well as young wood islands were intentionally left behind. In the newly created gaps, firs, mountain maples, and mountain elms were replanted to create a diverse mixed forest. This results in a resilient, climate-ready mountain forest that not only provides valuable timber but also offers habitat for numerous species and can better respond to extreme weather events than monocultures.

Flower Decoration for the Future
Nothing decorates our homes as beautifully as wonderfully blooming, colorful balcony flowers. With the project "Sustainable Flower Boxes", we demonstrate how easy sustainable balcony decoration can be. The flower boxes, which are put together in cooperation with the Seidemann nursery, use peat-free soil and organic fertilizer, and beautify the entrances of the information offices and branches of the Seefeld Tourism Association with nectar-rich flowers every summer. The flower boxes can also be ordered by our businesses and locals.
