Heart of Jesus Fire in Mösern

In the evening at 21:00, the traditional Heart of Jesus Fire will take place near the Peace Bell, which will be ignited by the volunteer fire department of Mösern.

The tradition of honoring the Heart of Jesus is deeply rooted in Tyrol, with clubs participating in religious celebrations throughout the country. The festival originated from the biblical story of the spear thrust into the Heart of Jesus and is seen as a symbol of baptism and Eucharist. The special significance of this celebration for Tyrol lies in the fact that the vow to honor the Heart of Jesus was taken during the defense wars in 1796, and the surprise victories of Andreas Hofer against the Bavarians and French were attributed to this vow. To this day, these events are commemorated with festive services, accompanied by processions in many communities. The custom of the Heart of Jesus fires also arose from this vow and served as a means of communication during the freedom struggles in Tyrol.
