Sneezing, watery eyes, or breathing problems – for millions of people, allergies are part of everyday life. However, alongside well-known treatment methods, alternative procedures like acupuncture are increasingly coming into the focus of medicine.
Allergies are now among the most common chronic diseases worldwide, affecting people of all ages. The immune system reacts hypersensitively to actually harmless substances such as pollen, pet hair, and certain foods.

The treatment of allergies is continuously evolving – from classical medications to immunotherapies and complementary methods like acupuncture. In particular, complementary approaches are gaining interest as many sufferers are looking for holistic treatment options
sought.

In this lecture, I would like to provide an overview of allergies, their causes, and treatment options, and subsequently discuss the role acupuncture can play in alleviating allergic symptoms.
