The Karwendel Nature Park is the largest nature park in Austria and the largest protected area in Tyrol, known for the Great Maple Plain and the Isar spring. The latest expansion now also includes the Arnspitze Nature Reserve around Leutasch. The main focus areas of the nature park include nature conservation, recreation & tourism, environmental education, as well as knowledge & research, but also a colorful program of lectures and excursions at the Nature Park Info Center in Scharnitz is on the agenda!
Programme on 17.09.2026:
The bearded vulture, one of the most fascinating birds of prey in the Alps, is returning to its original habitats after more than a hundred years. The lecture provides an overview of the biology and behaviour of this species, how to identify it reliably, as well as the history and development of the reintroduction project in the Alps. Based on current data, population trends, breeding success and influencing factors affecting the population in North Tyrol are also presented.
