Climbing paradise since 2019
Sonnenplatten Scharnitz
Right in front of the Karwendel Gate, in Scharnitz, lies this impressive climbing garden in close proximity to the Scharnitz bypass. The project was implemented in collaboration with Heinz Zak, the municipality of Scharnitz, and the Seefeld tourism association.
Heinz Zak, one of Austria's most renowned extreme climbers, has renovated the old routes and brought them up to the latest safety standards. Additionally, new routes have been developed, so that a total of 60 routes in the gripping Wettersteinkalk and in moderate difficulty levels (grades 3 to 7) primarily await beginners and sport climbers.
A chill area with tables, benches, slacklines, and a fountain for refreshing and relaxing has also been created. A high-quality restroom facility as well as numerous parking spaces in close proximity complete the climbing garden "Sonnenplatten Scharnitz". Put on your climbing shoes, buckle up your harness, strap on your chalk – and off you go! Find your favorite route in the difficulty range of 3 to 7.
Note: In spring, autumn, and winter, special attention should be paid to alpine hazards such as rockfall, icefall, and avalanches. The approach and climbing are at your own risk.
