WINTER RECALL
On Everyone's Lips
Numerous press representatives and influencers visited us during the recently concluded winter season and shared their special experiences from Tyrol's largest high plateau with the world. A key focus was on our strategic success pattern of winter hiking: In particular, the new, star-shaped Seefeld high plateau winter hiking trail with fixed accommodations was very well received. But the topics of cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, and the increasingly popular niches of winter trail running and ice bathing were also not neglected.
Focus on Winter Hiking
Our winter hiking trails, the classic first winter hiking trail in Tyrol, as well as the new star-shaped Seefeld High Plateau winter hiking trail with a fixed base in Seefeld generated great interest in the media world. Journalists from DPA, Oberösterreichische Nachrichten, Schwäbische Tageszeitung, and Freie Presse (Chemnitz) visited us, as well as influencers Monja Kraner (@takemetoalaska_), Marlene Vey (@marlenesleben), and Janna Kamphof (@jannakamphof), who also writes for Wandermagazin. Enthusiastic experience reports and beautiful posts emerged, which definitely make you want to experience more winter hiking on Tyrol's high plateau. A major plus point, especially for beginners in winter hiking, is the fixed accommodation, which reduces packing and transport effort and puts enjoyment in the foreground.

Success guarantee cross-country skiing
Our winter core theme of cross-country skiing also attracted renowned media and influential content creators. In print, the magazines Reisewelt Alpen, Donna, and Reisevergnügen featured us. The latter two tested our region, which had already been introduced as a tip in one of their previous articles (Cross-country skiing in Austria – 11 tips for your winter vacation | Reisevergnügen). Online, we were prominently represented on the platform xc-ski.de with our events. Furthermore, there was a video contribution about us as a cross-country skiing and training mecca of the Alps (https://www.xc-ski.de/loipen/region-seefeld/das-langlauf-mekka-der-alpen-region-seefeld-im-check/).
Many content creators enthusiastically reported about Tirol Hochplateau on their channels. Notable mentions include Friederike Schulz (@rike.mountainlife), who documented her journey from being a beginner in cross-country skiing to participating in the Ganghoferlauf, and Lelia König (@miss.lk.sunshine), who explored the themes of cross-country skiing and family in the region as a mom and wrote two exciting blogs on https://einesportlichefamilie.de/. Magdalena Kalus (@youareanadventurestory) took her followers along to the Women’s Cross-Country Skiing Camp in January.

Previously in December, Kalus was also on tour and skiing in the region, showing that Seefeld has a lot to offer here as well.
The potential of Tyrol's high plateau in alpine skiing was also the focus of Michael Mastarciyan during his winter visit to the region. The Canadian author writes for the major Snow Magazine based in Aspen, Colorado, always producing extremely positive and almost poetic texts about Seefeld.
Extra: Winter trails and ice experiences
Winter trail running is still a niche, but this young sport is becoming increasingly popular. Tirol's high plateau can impress with its perfectly groomed winter trails and be a true pioneer. In line with this, our new page on winter trail running has recently been created. Profil runner and running coach Jan Fitschen plays a significant role on it. The former Olympic athlete and European champion over 10,000 meters visited for testing in January and shares his impressions in his podcast Running is Simple #229 from January 18, 2025. You can also hear about his first attempt at ice bathing. Currently often described as health-promoting, this niche is also establishing itself more and more by the Isar and other icy water spots in the region.
Back to the Roots - The Guardian
The probably most impressive press trip was that of the renowned British travel journalist Hilary Bradt. The 83-year-old founder of the globally operating Bradt Travel Guides came to Seefeld for the British Guardian together with her siblings Andrew (86) and Kate (81) to ski once again. All three had visited the region back in the late 1950s, Kate on a school ski trip, Hilary and Andrew as exchange students in Innsbruck. 65 years later, their golden memories were surpassed. Their latest experiences in skiing, tobogganing, cross-country skiing, and various adventures in Tyrolean cuisine will soon be featured in what is likely Britain's most important daily newspaper.
