The Ehrwalder Alm (1,500m), which is open all year round, is located at the foot of the iconic Zugspitze, between dense woodland not far from the Ehrwalder Almsee. During the winter months, a picturesque little ski area extends around the inn, and cross-country skiers are also happy to be found here then. In summer, the Ehrwalder Alm is a popular destination for hikers and (e-)bikers and also serves as a starting point for scenic hikes through the surrounding Alps. E-bikers can even charge their batteries on the Alm with their own charger.
Those who prefer to relax after a sumptuous snack in the parlour or on the cosy sun terrace can find a shady spot by the lake and take a nap there. Gourmet tip: homemade dumplings, cakes and genuine Tyrolean apple strudel. E-bike batteries, meanwhile, are welcome to be charged at the Alm, provided you bring a suitable cable.
LOCATION & STARTING POINT
The starting point of the hike or (e-)bike tour to the Ehrwalder Alm is easily accessible by public transport from the train station or bus stop in Ehrwald. If you come by car, there is free parking at the valley station of the Ehrwald cable cars. Ascent from the starting point via wide bike trails and heavenly meadow paths. A particularly beautiful - but also more demanding - ascent is possible from Leutasch through the alpine paradise Gaistal. From the Salzbach car park or the Leutasch Gaistal bus stop, the route follows the Leutascher Ache river over numerous alpine pastures to Ehrwald.
