The small hut Kastenalm is located in the picturesque Hinterautal valley in Scharnitz. At 1,220 meters, extensive alpine meadows extend around the traditional wooden hut. Here you can enjoy delicious Tyrolean Brettljausen with a variety of mountain snacks and cakes according to old traditional recipes - the hut is closed only on Wednesdays. As a perfect bike & hike destination, you can cycle from the Isar spring to the Kastenalm by (e-)bike and explore the surrounding mountain landscapes (such as Sunntigerspitze, Speckkarspitze, Hallerangerhaus and Hallerangeralm) by foot. Parking facilities for bicycles of all kinds are available about hundred meters from the hut. From the gate to the hut is a footpath out of consideration for the alpine animals.

STARTING POINT
The ascent to the Kastenalm begins at the Länd car park in Scharnitz, which is subject to a charge, either by (e-)bike or on foot. If you arrive by train or bus, walk 850 metres from the train station to the starting point at the Länd car park; from the bus stop at the Scharnitz municipal office/information office it is about 650 metres.
