Really sustainable

Thinking and acting

The Seefeld region on the way to the future

The Seefeld region - Tyrol's high plateau is located in the midst of a unique landscape and borders on Austria's largest nature park - the Karwendel Nature Park. In order to protect and preserve the natural diversity and vitality of our region and also to offer future generations a good basis for life, we strive - today and tomorrow - to think and act ecologically, socially and economically according to appropriate guidelines.

DEVELOPMENT FRAMEWORK

Agenda 2030

We are guided by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations Agenda 2030, which were recognised by (almost) all member states of the United Nations in 2015. The SDGs have global validity and set the guidelines for sustainable development processes. As the Seefeld Tourism Association, we prioritise four essential goals by the year 2025 in order to make effective contributions by 2030:
Sustainable Tourism Policies (SDG 8), Sustainable Consumption and Production Patterns (SDG 12), Deep Climate Action (SDG 13) and Biodiversity Protection and Conservation (SDG 15). True to our motto "nobody is perfect", we encourage all tourism enterprises in our region to implement ecological and social improvement processes. In the "Downloads" section, we have published corresponding guidelines on the SDGs.

TOGETHER

Plateau Pioneers

A total of nine Plateau pioneers from the areas of nature park, tourism association and accommodation businesses are working with an expert for sustainable development (CSR/ESG) on an ambitious framework for the destination Seefeld. In the area of climate protection, corporate carbon footprint analyses (GHG Protocol; Scope 1-3) are used to define, among other things, scientifically-based reduction targets for the next 5 to 10 years for the nine companies. Based on the defined development goals, corresponding thematic workshops such as sustainable food or mobility trainings are carried out.

CERTIFICATION

The Seefeld region as a pilot destination

The Seefeld region is currently in the certification phase for the renowned Austrian eco-label. As a pilot region, we are aiming for a successful audit by the beginning of 2023 by fulfilling the specially designed catalogue of criteria.
