Route description: After a night at the Bettelwurfhütte, the eagle's nest of the Karwendel, all high-endurance mountaineers who feel fit and possess the necessary physical and technical skills have the option of climbing the Großen Bettelwurf. First, head east, well-signposted, into the gully where the trail leads up from the Halltal and then continue ascending southeastwards to the "Eisengattergrat", the southern ridge of the Großen Bettelwurf. The following trail, partly secured and partly to be overcome in easy climbing (I) in grippy limestone, now leads mostly to the right of a diagonally descending gully to the summit ridge, overcoming several partly exposed rock ledges. Via ferrata equipment including a helmet is explicitly recommended for this. Towards the top, the path becomes somewhat steeper. Shortly below the summit ridge, the path divides, with the left path (seen from below) being easier to navigate. At the summit ridge, keep to the east and reach the summit cross via a narrower section of the ridge that is exposed on both sides. From the summit, return to the Bettelwurfhütte via the
