Route description: Start at the Pfeishütte and follow trail 221 (= Via Alpina) heading east with a gentle ascent to the Stempeljoch, located between the Pfeiser Spitze and the Kleine Stempeljochspitze. At an altitude of 2,215 metres, you reach the col between the Pfeiser Spitze and the Stempeljochspitze. From here, the trail descends steeply over a gravel scree slope. ATTENTION: Until late summer, there is often a lot of old snow in the Stempelreise, which can be frozen very hard in the early morning (danger of falling: snowline spikes and poles provide optimal protection)! After about 140 metres of descent, turn left onto the Wilde-Bande-Steig. Large old snowfields are also frequently found on this crossing (for an alternative ascent, see below). Initially, the path runs below the eastern and southern flanks of the Stempeljochspitzen, the Roßkopf, and the Großer and Kleiner Lafatscher, staying roughly parallel to the contour lines with gentle ups and downs towards the Lafatscher Joch.
