Tobogganing
The toboggan run on the Hohe Sattel is a challenging insider tip for sporty and experienced skiers: the two and a half kilometres to the highest point of the toboggan run cover a sporty 385 metres in altitude and then lead back down to the valley at an average gradient of 14%.
The ascent starts directly from the parking lot in Ahrn in an easterly direction and continues through the Satteltal valley, signposted. After about an hour's hike - be especially careful of oncoming tobogganists/hikers - you reach the highest point of the tour at 1,495 metres. There are no places to stop for refreshments, but the wintry tranquillity invites you to bring your own picnic before finally getting on your toboggan.
Depending on the snow conditions, the descent can be very icy in places. It is best to assess the overall demands of the toboggan run during the ascent and drive with particular care and adapted to the conditions. Braking and cornering techniques must be correct on the steep sections.
Attention: With children, it is essential to switch to more leisurely family routes (e.g. Gaistal Hämmermoos). This toboggan run is a real challenge even for experienced
