Alpine Pastures & Huts in the Karwendel
The Oberbrunnalm embodies everything that defines a true mountain hut: Deep in the heart of the Karwendel Nature Park, hearty Tyrolean "Brettljausen" await hungry hikers in the traditional wooden hut; the homemade speck and Kaspressknödel also taste simply "sacrilegiously good" at 1,523 meters above sea level. After a hearty meal with a view of the Hohe Munde and Erlspitz group, the cozy sun terrace invites you to relax with homemade cakes, aromatic coffee, and freshly tapped refreshments. The hut operates only during the summer months, offering an authentic alpine experience.
STARTING POINT
From the paid Gießenbach parking lot (between Seefeld and Scharnitz), a marked forest path leads initially a bit steeper and then flatter to the hut. Those who prefer to forgo the car can simply travel by bus and train (to Scharnitz or Gießenbach) and start directly from Gießenbach station to the charming Oberbrunnalm.
SUMMER TOURS
- Hike to Oberbrunnalm. From the parking lots in the Scharnitz village of Gießenbach, hikers walk along a wide forest path through the wild romantic Gießenbach Valley to the south. After nearly six kilometers and navigating some serpentine paths, you will reach the rustic Oberbrunnalm.
