A Cross-Country Skiing Region You Can Rely On

Snow-Reliable Cross-Country Skiing in Austria | Region Seefeld – Tirols Hochplateau

The Region Seefeld is one of the most snow-reliable cross-country skiing destinations in Austria – and for good reason. Located on a sunny high plateau at around 1,200 metres above sea level, the region offers particularly dependable conditions for a long cross-country skiing season with a high level of planning reliability.

This natural snow reliability is purposefully supported by a continuously evolving snow management system. Snowfarming enables a stable start to the season as early as November, while technically snow-covered trails in the Seefeld and Leutasch Nordic centres ensure consistent conditions even during periods of low natural snowfall. With 245 kilometres of classic and skating trails, the Region Seefeld boasts one of the largest networks for snow-reliable cross-country skiing in Austria. The combination of altitude, modern technology and professional grooming guarantees excellent track conditions – from early season through to spring.

Why cross-country skiing in the Region Seefeld is snow-reliable

Snowmaking Trails – Technically Secured

In the Nordic centres of Seefeld and Leutasch, modern snow cannons and snow lances ensure reliable conditions. These technically snow-covered sections allow for the early opening of key trails and guarantee consistently high track quality.

In Seefeld, around 90 snow cannons and snow lances are in operation, enabling comprehensive snow production on the central World Championship trails. The snow-covered network offers numerous route options which, with only minor repetitions, can be combined into a varied loop of around 20 kilometres.

In Leutasch, around 35 snow cannons and snow lances are used. In addition, an energy-efficient central air system supports snow production. Overall, Leutasch provides around 6 kilometres of technically snow-covered trails per technique.

Snow Depot Supply – Targeted and Ground-Friendly

When required, snow from fresh snow depots is selectively transported to particularly exposed sections of the trails. A ground-friendly tracked dumper is used for this purpose, ensuring reliable snow distribution even in sensitive areas. Using the Snowast snow management system, piste machines display snow depths with centimetre-level accuracy. This allows existing snow to be redistributed precisely to the areas where it is needed most, ensuring efficient use of resources and consistently high-quality track conditions.
