A cross-country skiing area you can rely on
Snow-Safe Cross-Country Skiing in Austria | Seefeld Region - Tirol's High Plateau
The Seefeld region is among the most snow-sure cross-country skiing areas in Austria – and for good reason. Located on a sunny plateau at around 1,200 meters above sea level, the region offers particularly reliable conditions for a long cross-country skiing season with high planning certainty.
The natural snow reliability is deliberately supplemented by an continuously developed snow management. Snow farming enables a stable season start as early as November, while technically snowable trails in the Seefeld and Leutasch trail centers ensure consistent conditions even with little new snow. With 245 kilometers of classic and skating trails, the Seefeld region has one of the largest networks for snow-sure cross-country skiing in Austria. The combination of altitude, modern technology, and professional grooming ensures optimal track conditions – from pre-season to spring.

Tracks with high snow reliability
Snowfarming – earlier & secure start to the season
Snowfarming is a central component for snow-secure cross-country skiing in Austria. In the Seefeld region, around 8,000 m³ of snow are stored over the summer and strategically used at the start of the season.
Advantages of Snowfarming:
- Early and guaranteed season start starting from November
- Stable conditions even with little fresh snow
- Resource-saving trail preparation
Describable trails - technically secured
In the track centers of Seefeld and Leutasch, modern snow cannons and snow lances ensure reliable conditions. The technically snow-able sections allow for an early opening of central tracks and ensure a consistent track quality.
In Seefeld, around 90 snow cannons and snow lances are in operation. They enable widespread snow production on the central World Cup tracks. On the snow-covered tracks, numerous variations can be skied, which can be combined with only minor repetitions to create a approximately 20 km long, varied round.
In Leutasch, around 35 snow cannons and snow lances are in use. In addition, an energy-efficient central air system is employed here. A total of around 6 kilometers of technically snow-able tracks per style are available in Leutasch.
Depot snow supply – targeted and soil-conserving
If necessary, snow is selectively brought from fresh snow depots to particularly exposed sections of the track. A soil-friendly tracked dumper (tracked transporter) is used, which reliably supplies even sensitive areas. The groomers display the snow depths in centimeters exactly through the Snowast snow management system. This way, the existing snow is precisely moved to the right places.
Snow-sure cross-country skiing trails on the Wildmoos Plateau
At around 1,300 meters above sea level, the trails in Wildmoos are among the most snow-sure routes in the region. Due to their altitude, they often remain in very good condition until spring and are officially regarded as high-altitude trails.
