Every year at the start of the summer season, we ask the regional news from our partner businesses and infrastructures. Below you will find the listing of our regional news as well as our sustainability goals for the upcoming summer season 2023. Summer News 2023
- The Experience World Alpenbad Leutasch recently opened its completely renovated wellness concept: With various saunas, sweat lodges, steam baths, infrared zones, relaxation areas, as well as its own indoor and outdoor pool, it's truly an experience in itself.
- The Hotel Garni Olympia in Seefeld is now called Boutique Hotel Olympia.
- The former Astoria Resort Seefeld is now called 5* S Alpin Resort Sacher Seefeld-Tirol.
- In the Leutasch district of Weidach, a new modern and bright sweet spot, the Boutique-Aparthotel Chalina, has opened: Time and space for you. Tirol’s mountains right before your eyes. The leisure program of the Seefeld region is on the agenda. Your hosts have got your back. It’s going to be laid-back – promise!
- Since 1928, the prestigious Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd. has gathered the most beautiful and unusual luxury hotels in the world: Only about 400 exclusive hotels in over 80 countries have successfully completed the strict application and inspection process. Currently, there are just 8 hotels in all of Austria, and of course, the exclusive Alpin Resort Sacher Seefeld-Tirol is in Seefeld.
- The Gourmet Guide Austria 2023 recognized the Seefeld Delicacy Store tre.culinaria OG as one of the best delicacy shops in Tyrol 2023 (Category Delicacies & Grocery).
- The new look of the Seefeld region can now also be taken home with high-quality merch products around Tyrol’s high plateau.
- A new "Country House" has opened in the heart of Seefeld: The Hotel Henri warmly welcomes you there from now on.
- In Leutasch, there has been a new viewing platform at the Höhenweg Runst since last late summer – reachable from the Kulturhaus Ganghofermuseum in about ten leisurely walking minutes.
- Many of the most beautiful sunny spots in the expansive Seefeld region now feature cozy and freely rotating wooden sun loungers made by local craftsmanship.
- The freshly renovated natural Kneipp facility at Salzbach (at the last parking lot towards Almenparadies Gaistal) offers tired bike and hiking legs a welcome refreshment in the forest.
- A new panorama trail has recently been established around the Seefeld parish hill, offering views over Möserer Tal, Seekirchl, Wildsee, Gschwandtkopf, Brunschkopf, the Rosshütte area, Seefeld, and the surrounding mountain ranges from Hohe Munde to the Karwendel Nature Park.
- The spectacular Leutascher Geisterklamm is one of the most popular summer destinations in the Seefeld region. Until the summer season 2023, the family-friendly themed trail concept with its own storyline, fantastic interactive stations, and its legendary klamm residents will be extensively renovated and comprehensively redesigned.
- The Herbert Pixner Project will perform a gala concert in the WM-Halle Seefeld on October 7, 2023.
- The legendary Stihl Timbersports will be hosted in Seefeld for the first time on September 2 and 3, 2023 – including: The Austrian Championships as well as the European Nations Rookie Cup & the European Nations Pro Cup.
Sustainability
- Under the project title "Really Sustainable", corresponding measures have been bundled in the Seefeld region since spring 2020.
- Regional Plateau Breakfast: Participating businesses have been able to source regionally produced products for a sustainable plateau breakfast since spring 2020.
- Plateau Pioneers: Eight leading plateau companies analyzed their direct and indirect emissions and proposed a corresponding reduction plan for the next 5-10 years to comply with climate goals.
- TeamCard Region Seefeld: Since late 2022, the TeamCard employee card has been an additional component for regional employer branding. Through bundled inclusive services, the region offers its employees an excellent opportunity to explore the diversity of the region at very low cost.
- Plateau Product: Since late 2021, plateau products made by regional businesses can be obtained in our information offices and online shop. Naturally, the wooden regional shelves in the information offices were crafted by local carpenters.
- Mountain Spring Water: Through various online and offline initiatives, we want to raise awareness among our guests and businesses that crystal-clear mountain spring water from the tap is a genuine privilege. Together with the Tirol Tourism Board, we created our own carafes and glasses with regional branding to serve the water in an appealing way.
- CleanUp Plateau Challenge: An annually large-scale cleaning action to keep our region genuinely clean and successful. Guests and locals receive garbage bags and grabbers from the TVB; for every 5kg of trash collected, there’s a restaurant voucher for the Seefeld region (win-win!).
- Environmental Label: Certification with the "Environmental Label for Destinations" according to criteria catalog UZ 82 Tourism Destinations. Together with 6 pilot regions in Tyrol and support through a LEADER project, we have been intensively preparing for environmental certification since early 2022.
- Electric TVB Vehicle Fleet: All service vehicles of the TVB headquarters in Leutasch have been completely converted to electric technology since 2020. When purchasing new vehicles for the maintenance fleet, the respective technology is also critically assessed and, in favorable cases, switched to sustainable electric technology.
- Travel Partnerships: Through ongoing collaborations with DB/ÖBB/VVT, public transportation access has been continuously improved and promoted since 2020.
- Optimize Public Transport Network: Starting summer 2023, a comprehensive new transportation concept will come into effect in the Seefeld region – with much higher frequencies, more connections, and perfect coordination with train schedules.
- Partnership with Nature Park Karwendel: The largest nature park in Austria is a significant Natura 2000 protected area right at our doorstep – and our long-standing partner. The collaboration ranges from nature tours and visitor management concepts to the new Holzerhütte Museum and the Nature Park Information Center in Scharnitz. With the new Nature Park Designer project for businesses, this collaboration aims to be further strengthened. In spring 2020, the protected area was expanded to include the impressive Arnspitz Group.
