Already the local poet Ludwig Ganghofer loved the hunting area in the Gaistal and lived for a long time in the hunting lodge Hubertus not far from the Tillfussalm. The rustic hut is located at 1,382 meters above sea level at the foot of the iconic Zugspitze, nestled between the Wetterstein Mountains and the Mieminger Range. The famous Ganghoferweg trail leads to the small alpine hut, and the nearby Jagdhaus Hubertus also tells of the writer's work to this day.
At the rustic alpine hut, the two warm hosts Patrick and Jonas from Lermoos spoil hungry (e-)bikers (please bring charger) and hikers from May to October with homemade specialties from regional production. A special treat is the homemade berry cake. A playground, lush alpine meadows cows and countless wild animals in the surrounding forests are waiting for the little ones (forest path suitable for baby carriages).
LOCATION & STARTING POINT
The Tillfussalm is located in the middle of the nature paradise Gaistal and can be easily reached on foot or by (e-)bike on comfortable forest paths. You can simply leave your own car at the Salzbach parking lot, which is subject to a fee. If you arrive by public transport, the hike starts there from the bus stop "Leutasch Salzbach".
On the rustic Tillfussalm and in the nearby hunting lodge already writer Ludwig Ganghofer was happy to stay with his guests. Often the evenings became long and cozy, so that people only wanted to hike back to the valley the next day. To this day, up to eight people can spend the night in the bed camp on the Tillfussalm. Due to limited capacity, early reservations are expressly requested.
