An unforgettable walking experience through the unspoilt natural beauty of the Tyrolean mountains

On a sun-drenched, south-facing plateau, at an altitude of 1,200 metres above sea level, the Olympiaregion Seefeld boasts a spectacular location surrounded by the Karwendel Nature Park, the Wildmoos nature protection area, the majestic Wetterstein massif and Hohe Munde mountain. A holiday destination steeped in tradition, the Olympiaregion Seefeld comprises five villages – Mösern-Buchen, Scharnitz, Reith, Leutasch and Seefeld – and offers a vast area for walking and hiking amid a stunning, pristine natural landscape.

As a member of the elite ‘Best of the Alps’ alliance, the Olympiaregion Seefeld boasts an excellent infrastructure, lifestyle, culture, an international clientele and superb gastronomic offerings. For more than 20 years now Seefeld has, along with 11 other select destinations in five Alpine countries, been acting as an ‘ambassador’ for the Alpine region.

You can walk and hike in Tyrol at all times of the year. As a year-round holiday destination, the region offers the opportunity to explore its vast network of trails and paths both in summer and winter. During the summer months, the area has more than 650 kilometres of marked walking, hiking and climbing routes that offer outdoor enthusiasts the chance to explore the breathtaking natural surroundings. The paths and trails are categorised into varying levels of difficulty according to length and elevation gain/loss and signposted accordingly. In addition, barrier-free trails have been created for people with walking difficulties and small children. More than 60 mountain farmhouses and huts offer idyllic stops during a hike, where you can rest and enjoy a refreshing drink and mouth-watering local specialities.

Unique in Tyrol, and indeed in the entire Alpine region, are the wide, flat, barrier-free ‘Promenade Walking Trails’ which can also be used for winter hiking. They offer ideal conditions for longer hikes or leisurely strolls through the glittering, snow-covered landscape. A new highlight in the region is the set of three themed trails, which attract countless walking enthusiasts and families, taking them on journeys of discovery through the scenic mountain landscape. The three trails come together to form a star shape at the summit viewpoint on the Brunschkopf mountain. Starting points of the themed tracks are the villages of Seefeld, Leutasch and Mösern. Picturesque walking routes also lead to the region’s secluded natural bathing lakes. The Möserer See lake, one of Tyrol’s warmest lakes, and the Lottensee and Wildmoossee lakes are perfect for a refreshing dip, or for simply lazing and relaxing.

‘Discover the Olympiaregion Seefeld – the GREAT OUTDOORS is waiting for YOU!’ In keeping with this motto, the Olympiaregion Seefeld’s new summer season programme offers a wealth of summer holiday experiences in the form of themed walks and hikes. With such tours as ‘Experience nature with all your senses’, ‘Meditative hike’, ‘Nature watch in the Karwendel Gorge’ and ‘Surprise trekking tour’ on the agenda, a fascinating and enjoyable break amid the region’s pristine countryside is guaranteed.

A particularly memorable experience is offered by a hiking tour in the Karwendel Nature Park, Austria’s largest Alpine reserve. From gentler walks to the mountain pastures and huts, to challenging summit tours and long-distance hikes, the area boasts unspoilt natural scenery, spectacular panoramic vistas and a vast network of paths and trails.

In recognition of its excellent sign-posting system and its efforts to reduce risks in hazardous spots along its mountain tracks and hiking trails, the Olympiaregion Seefeld was awarded the coveted sSeal of qQuality by the Tyrolean government.

The Olympiaregion Seefeld’s two- and three-dimensional interactive panoramic maps provides a clear overview of all walking routes in the hiking area. In addition, the interactive tool offers tips on places to go and attractions to visit, and contains information on mountain huts and local facilities and amenities.

The region has a wide spectrum of accommodation specially geared to the needs and wishes of hiking enthusiasts and families, from 5-star- superior hotels to cosy bed and breakfasts, many of which even have their own spas and well-being facilities for blissful relaxation and regeneration. Furthermore, the public leisure pool complexes, such as the Olympia Sport and Congress Centre in Seefeld and the ErlebnisWelt Alpenbad in Leutasch, offer perfect ambiences in which to switch off and unwind.
