Press Release – IML Unicorn March 2026

From September 18 to 20, 2026, the Seefeld region will once again become a meeting point for hiking enthusiasts from all over the world. The International 3-Day Unicorn March invites you to explore the Tyrolean mountains together from Friday to Sunday. Without any time pressure and without competition. The focus is on communal hiking, nature, and the interaction of international participants, military groups, and locals.

The program is particularly diverse in terms of the routes: Each of the three days offers four routes to choose from - one easy, two medium, and one difficult. This way, the Unicorn March offers both enjoyable hikes and challenging challenges.

The routes lead from the Leutaschtal through forests, over alpine meadows, alongside streams, and through the most impressive landscapes of the region. Participants can choose every day how many kilometers they want to tackle, whether it’s 10, 20, 30, or 42 kilometers.

The first day starts with the 10-kilometer Runst-Wanderung, an easy route that is predominantly flat through the Leutaschtal. The 20-kilometer Achen-Wanderung follows the Leutascher Ache and leads to Unterkirchen. For those looking for more elevation and nature experiences, they can opt for the 30-kilometer Geisterklamm-Wanderung. This route takes you through the Leutascher Geisterklamm, crosses the border into Germany, and returns through Scharnitz and the Satteltal back to the Leutaschtal. The most demanding option of the day is the 42-kilometer round around Arnspitze with varied sections around the mountain massif.

On the second day, the Katzenkopf hike offers an easy route of about 10 kilometers. The 20-kilometer Wildmoos hike leads through Unterweidach, Weidach, Neuleutasch, and Seefeld further into Wildmoos and to Katzenkopf. The 30-kilometer Inntalblick hike connects these scenic highlights with additional loops and views over the region. The 42-kilometer Olympia hike is the most challenging route of the day and combines long valley passages with varied trails through the landscape around Seefeld and Leutasch.

Saturday is also entirely dedicated to the Experience hike. Along the routes, music, regional delicacies, and special experiences await. Depending on the chosen distance, participants will visit the Peace Bell in Mösern and the Toni-Seelos ski jump, whose funicular will be exclusively used for the participants. At the Katzenkopf hut, the hiking experience concludes with culinary delights and traditional music before returning to the valley by lift and then heading to the get-together at the Wetterstein Hall.

To conclude, on Sunday, the 10-kilometer long Wiesenweg-Wanderung awaits as an easy round through the districts of Moos, Plaik, and Klamm. The 20-kilometer long Bichlwald-Wanderung leads additionally into the idyllic Gaistal and to Hämmermoosalm. Even further is the 30-kilometer long Gaistal-Wanderung, which takes you over Hämmermoosalm and Gaistalalm and then returns to the starting point via Weidachsee and the Leutaschtal. The highlight is the 42-kilometer long Almenparadies-Wanderung. It leads, among other places, to Hämmermoosalm, Gaistalalm, continues over Lottensee and Wildmoossee as well as to Wildmoosalm, offering a particularly varied mix of pastures, lakes, forest paths, and viewpoints.
