Winter walks you should experience in every village
Five villages, five winter walks
Anyone who truly wants to get to know the Region Seefeld should lace up their boots at least once in each village during winter and head out for a walk. Winter hiking on Tirol’s High Plateau comes in many forms – each one worth experiencing. Five villages, five routes – each with its own character, its own quiet, its own views. Sometimes calm and contemplative, sometimes open and wide. Those who complete all five winter loops will have felt winter in the Region Seefeld in its truest form – just as it can only be experienced up here.
1. Seefeld: Lake Wildsee, Parish Hill & Seekirchl
A must for every winter guest on Tirol’s High Plateau: this circular walk connects Seefeld’s most beautiful spots. It starts at the idyllic lake Wildsee, continues up to the panoramic Parish Hill and finishes at the iconic Seekirchl – all wrapped in the magical atmosphere of the festively lit pedestrian zone. A short yet striking loop that captures Seefeld’s winter calm and beauty.

2. Leutasch: Lake Weidachsee & the River Leutascher Ache
This atmospheric winter loop leads through the snow-covered Leutasch valley and blends moments of water, forest and pure enjoyment at the foot of the Wetterstein Mountains. Starting at the music pavilion in Weidach, the path first takes you to the tranquil Lake Weidachsee, where the calm winter setting unfolds – perhaps even with a chance to watch ice fishing. The route then continues through the wintry forest and along the river Leutascher Ache, following the river downstream back to the starting point.

- Refreshments: Fischrösterei & café at Lake Weidachsee, Weidachstube
3. Mösern: The Peace Bell
The contemplative Peace Trail leads past seven spiritual stations, circling Lake Möserer See and guiding walkers to the impressive Peace Bell. Along the way, you pass a 300-year-old mountain farmhouse with a local heritage museum, the small Gföll Chapel and the scenic Albrecht Dürer Path. One of the most atmospheric sections follows the shore of Lake Möserer See, where winter’s stillness reflects in the clear water. The highlight and finale: the Peace Bell, perched high above the Inn Valley and ringing out its powerful chime every day at 17.00.

4. Reith: Culture Trail
This historically influenced circular walk follows the ancient Roman road and beautifully weaves together Reith’s landscape with its deeply rooted past. Eleven stations along the route share stories of former trade paths, regional traditions, conflicts and daily life from centuries ago. Well-preserved monuments and informative panels bring this cultural heritage to life and reveal how closely Reith’s history is tied to its surroundings.
