Really easy to reach: the journey to the Region Seefeld

Who drives shorter, has longer vacation! The journey to the Region Seefeld is short and fast, so you get more out of your vacation. More relaxation, more mountains and more time for what is really important. Whether by train or by car and from any direction: the journey to the sunny high plateau, situated at 1,200 meters above sea level, is quick, short and relaxed on all routes. This is indeed the case, and with all means of transport. In the following article you will learn the most important information regarding the journey and solid arguments for the ideal accessibility.

The sunny high plateau has a true pole position. The proximity to the German border also makes the Region Seefeld one of the most popular local recreation areas for guests from the Bavarian region. Coming from Munich, Garmisch with the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Clinic and Mittenwald with its historic town center are only a few kilometers away from the high plateau. The cross-connection coming from Switzerland through the Inn Valley is also an easy and fast route to arrive more quickly on vacation!

Tradition meets modernity: The Karwendelbahn & the highest ICE train station

The panoramic and impressive Karwendelbahn from Mittenwald to Innsbruck was opened in 1912 as Austria's first fully electrified railroad. Due to its early construction, the Karwendelbahn always carries a piece of history with it on every journey. Along the 32 km long route, the railroad travels through 16 tunnels and over 18 high bridges and viaducts. The Martinswand, which drops precipitously into the Inn Valley, is an impressive highlight of the route. Today, the Karwendelbahn is considered the most important connection between the plateau and the provincial capital Innsbruck. A ride on the Karwendelbahn should be on every guest's must-see list!

With the highest ICE train station, Seefeld is truly where tradition meets modernity. Thanks to the new ICE direct connections from Hamburg via Hanover and from Dortmund via Cologne and Frankfurt and many other stops in the Region Seefeld, the journey here is both sustainable and convenient. After about 9 hours from Hamburg, you can thus reach the Seefeld train station, surrounded by impressive mountain ranges, without stress or traffic jams. From December 2019, the connections go again every weekend.

All information about the journey by train can be found here.

Mobile vacation without a car. Is that possible? Yes, it is possible!

Mobility on vacation does not necessarily have to be connected with a car. The five regional towns of Seefeld, Leutasch, Reith, Scharnitz and Mösern are so well connected by regional buses that you can leave your car behind with a clear conscience. Not only your wallet will thank you, but also the environment benefits from the use of public transport. Guests with a valid guest card enjoy many advantages during their stay: the regional and ski buses within the 5 regional towns are free of charge, so the guest card is the bus ticket. This offer is valid all year round. There is also free transport on arrival from the train station to the accommodation (on presentation of the reservation confirmation).

All information about mobility in the area can be found here.

Individual arrival from all directions

Those who like to travel individually and take advantage of the good accessibility are exactly on the right track by car. Especially on busy travel weekends or when a large number of vacationers have one and the same destination in the south in mind, a stop in the Region Seefeld is worthwhile. The region has just as many beautiful places to offer as in more southern vacation destinations, where, however, traffic jams and long travel times are on the daily schedule. If you want to avoid exactly this heavy travel traffic, avoid roadblocks and do without traffic controls, you should spend your next vacation in the Region Seefeld. Because where in other places very much tourism prevails, one enjoys in the region restful power places full of peace and simple journey!

You can get all the information on how to get here by car here.

... We look forward to welcoming you back soon! We wish you a good trip and a nice journey to our region!
