Seefeld 2019: HEIA NORGE!

Go Norway! What would the FIS Nordic Ski Championships have been without the Norwegians? They not only firmly held the medal table, but also the spectator stands. Thousands of fans came from the far north to Seefeld to cheer on their athletes enthusiastically. The royal family also honored the athletes. The Norwegian TV channel NRK even reported from the exclusive TV studio on site. For this strong support, Norway deserves the gold! Here we relive the most beautiful impressions in red-white-blue: Click through the galleries and experience the most beautiful Norwegian moments.

Best of Fans

The Norwegian fans drew attention to themselves with creative, imaginative, and elaborate costumes. Eye-catching hats, Viking helmets, and glasses were also popular. And the countless flags turned the stands into a sea of Norwegian flags!

The Norwegian fans are very popular in Seefeld – even from the police there were only words of praise: "They are very peaceful and pleasant people, the atmosphere is great and they are very patient. They are all nice people!" is how the Norwegians are described.

Even bad weather couldn't harm the fans! (GEPA)

We are going for gold!

"We are going for gold!" was heard from the stands as the Norwegians shouted. With a total of 25 medals (13 gold, 5 silver, and 7 bronze), the nation from the North ranks 1st in the medal table – far ahead of all other nations. There was hardly a race after which the Norwegians had nothing to celebrate. By the way: Norway has already led the medal table in the last 10 (!) World Championships. Here are some of the most beautiful celebration moments of the Norwegians for you:

Royal visit for the athletes

Royal Visit: The Norwegian royal couple King Harald V and Queen Sonja did not miss the opportunity to cheer for their athletes live in Seefeld. Right before their eyes, the Norwegian athletes won several medals. Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg also traveled to Seefeld:

Norway in Seefeld: The Tent City

The Norwegians have truly turned the World Championship into a Nordic ski festival! They also built a small tent city for the occasion. On the meadow across from the Berghof Hotel, they set up several tents, tables, and a buffet. Here, one immediately felt like in Norway. With the greatest warmth and hospitality, visitors were welcomed, not just on the "Open Tent Day". The Norwegian chefs had prepared moose heart and sheep’s head. Delicious salmon was, of course, a must. For those who found Nordic cuisine too unusual, hot drinks, schnapps, and beer were available – all for free! Behind the Norwegian camp was a fan group that had never missed a Nordic World Championship. Sponsors provided the lavish food and drinks. For their hospitality, we wholeheartedly say "Mange takk"!

The Seaman's Church in Seefeld

Norway is the nation of sailors and seafaring. Thus, the "Sjømannskirken", or Seaman's Church, is part of the Norwegian Church. There is a Seaman's Church in many large cities – and also at various major events. Therefore, it could not be missing at Seefeld 2019. It was a place of tranquility during the World Cup. Everyone was welcome in the small "church" in the chapter hall of St. Oswald's Church. There were free waffles and coffee for everyone, and a service took place every week. The Seaman's Church was a successful place of community and peace!

Live from Seefeld: The Norwegian TV channel NRK

The Norwegian TV station NRK has set up its glass studio in the heart of Seefeld to report on the wins and events at the FIS Nordic Ski World Championships. 65 employees worked here and welcomed professional athletes and other celebrities every day. Up to 45 minutes were aired daily in Norway. You can find out more about the Norwegians' studio here!

Thank you very much, Norway!

We would like to thank the Norwegians for their great and entertaining support – you are amazing! Of course, a big THANK YOU also goes out to all the fans from around the world who cheered on their athletes vigorously during the World Championships in Seefeld 2019 and contributed to a wonderful, relaxed, fun, peaceful, and friendly atmosphere!
