Very long hike that requires good physical condition and, for the summit ascent, a head for heights and absolute sure-footedness. To save time, it is recommended to cycle as far as the Kastenalm.

From the Naturpark-Infozentrum, follow the Hinterautalstraße to the Gleirschhöhe. From there, take the left forest road towards Isarursprung/Kastenalm. Park your bike shortly before the Kastenalm and cross a small bridge to the right, then head steeply upwards past the Lafatscher Niederleger to the Halleranger. Once you reach the alpine floor, the paths split. Keep right at the junction until you reach the Hallerangerhaus. At the hut, keep right again and take the trail up to the Lafatscherjoch.
