Crunching snow under your feet, crisp winter air and views that instantly clear your mind: winter hiking on Tyrol’s high plateau reveals a peaceful, rewarding and surprisingly diverse side of the season. These selected winter hikes around Seefeld combine nature experiences, panoramic scenery and authentic alpine hospitality. Ideal for anyone who wants to experience winter consciously – away from the ski slopes.
1. Seefeld–Mösern–Wildmoos Winter Circular Hike
This panoramic winter hike has been awarded the Austrian Hiking Quality Seal, guaranteeing certified quality and an outstanding nature experience. Covering around 13 kilometres, the varied route leads from the Seekirchl in Seefeld via Lake Möserer See and the Peace Bell to the Wildmoos plateau.
Along the way, the Möserer Seestub’n, Lottenseehütte and Wildmoosalm invite you to enjoy cosy and delicious breaks. The trail combines idyllic forest sections with impressive viewpoints, including the sweeping panorama from the Wildmoos plateau towards the Hohe Munde and the snow-covered peaks of the Karwendel range.

2. Gschwandtkopf Winter Circular Hike
This approximately 10-kilometre winter hike starts at Seefeld’s village square, leading through the historic pedestrian zone and along the Wildsee promenade into the Reith meadows. From there, the trail gently ascends through the snow-covered Gschwandtkopf meadows, offering magnificent views over the Inn Valley all the way to Mösern. Along the route, several mountain huts – including the Seewaldalm and the Sportalm – invite you to enjoy a cosy break with Tyrolean specialities. The circular trail then continues via the Möserer meadows and the Kirchwald forest back to Seefeld, where the pedestrian zone with its cafés and restaurants provides the perfect setting to round off the day.

3. Fludertal–Katzenkopf Winter Circular Hike
This winter hike leads through the snow-covered Fludertal valley up to the Katzenkopf, where the cosy Katzenkopfhütte awaits with a sunny terrace and a crackling fireplace. The ascent follows gentle switchbacks through quiet forests that take on an almost fairy-tale atmosphere in winter. Inside the welcoming hut, it’s not only the open fire that creates a warm ambience, but also the homemade Tyrolean specialities. For the way back, you can either return on foot along the hiking trail or add a touch of adventure by renting a sled on site and enjoying the toboggan run down into the valley.

4. Winterrundwanderung von Mösern zur Ropferstub'm
A varied and longer winter hike leads from Mösern to Buchen, passing the Peace Bell and the Lottenseehütte, and continuing through snow-covered forests before culminating in a delightful stop at the Ropferstub’m with panoramic views of the Hohe Munde. The route follows the Broch trail, offering impressive views over the Inn Valley time and again. Along the way, the Lottenseehütte invites you to enjoy a cosy break before continuing through the wintry landscape towards Buchen. After a well-deserved rest at the Ropferstub’m, the return follows the same scenic route back to Mösern.
