Really easy to reach: getting to the Seefeld region
Those who travel shorter enjoy a longer vacation! Getting to the Seefeld region is quick and straightforward, allowing for more vacation enjoyment. More relaxation, more mountains, and more time for what truly matters. Whether by train or car, coming from any direction: the journey to the sunny high plateau located at 1,200 meters above sea level is quick, short, and relaxing by all means of transport. This is indeed the case with every mode of transportation. In the following article, you will find the most important information regarding travel and solid arguments for optimal accessibility.
The sunny high plateau has a true pole position. The proximity to the German border also makes the Seefeld region one of the most popular local recreation areas for guests from Bavaria. Coming from Munich, Garmisch with the Klinikum Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Mittenwald with its historic town center are only a few kilometers away from the high plateau. The cross connection coming from Switzerland through the Inn Valley also provides a simple and quick route to reach your vacation faster!
Tradition meets modernity: The Karwendelbahn & the highest ICE train station
The promising and impressive Karwendelbahn from Mittenwald to Innsbruck was opened in 1912 as the first fully electrified railway in Austria. Due to its early construction, the Karwendelbahn carries a piece of history with each ride. Along the 32 km long route, the train passes through 16 tunnels and over 18 high bridges and viaducts. The Martinswand, which steeply drops into the Inn Valley, is considered an impressive highlight of the route. Today, the Karwendelbahn is regarded as the most important connection between the plateau and the state capital Innsbruck. A ride on the Karwendelbahn should be on every guest's must-see list!

Karwendel Cable Car
With the highest railway station for ICE trains, Seefeld truly combines tradition and modernity. Thanks to the new ICE direct connections from Hamburg via Hanover as well as from Dortmund via Cologne and Frankfurt and many other stops in the Seefeld region, traveling here is both sustainable and comfortable. After around 9 hours from Hamburg, one can thus reach the Seefeld station, surrounded by impressive mountain ranges, stress-free and without traffic jams. From December 2019, the connections will be available every weekend again.

Mobile vacation without a car. Is that possible? Yes, it is!
Mobility during vacation does not necessarily have to be associated with a car. The five regional towns of Seefeld, Leutasch, Reith, Scharnitz, and Mösern are so well connected by regional buses that you can leave your own car parked with peace of mind. Not only will your wallet thank you, but the environment also benefits from using public transport. Guests with a valid Guest Card enjoy many advantages during their stay: the regional and ski buses within the five regional towns are free of charge, so the Guest Card serves as the bus ticket. This offer is valid all year round. Additionally, there is free transport from the train station to the accommodation upon presentation of the reservation confirmation.

The region has just as many beautiful spots to offer as southern holiday destinations, where however traffic jams and long travel times are part of the daily routine. If you want to avoid this heavy traffic, evade roadblocks, and skip traffic controls, you should spend your next vacation in the Seefeld region. Because where there is a lot of tourism in other places, you can enjoy relaxing power spots full of tranquility and easy access in this region!
