Magdalena Kirchtag ("Magdalena church day")
Rich in tradition, ecclesiastical and secular at the same time. In honor of St. Magdalene, the people of Luitasch hold an annual procession on July 22nd - and celebrate afterwards according to the occasion. A real village tradition, for which the people of Leutasch dress in their most beautiful traditional costumes.
Magdalena Procession & Kirchtag: Lived Tradition in the Seefeld Region
The Kirchtag has its origin in the consecration day in honor of St. Magdalene, as the church patroness of the "Magdalena Church", which was first built in 1190 and rebuilt in 1820. The patron saint's day with parade always takes place on July 22 from the parish church of Oberleutasch - regardless of the day of the week.
It´s Kirchtag time! Colorful traditional costumes and lived tradition
The Kirchtag is celebrated as a celebration after a church service in Oberleutasch - as in many places - also secularly as a local festival. It is clear that the 'Luitaschers' get dressed up for the high festive day: Full of pride they wear their festive costumes at the patrocinium and the subsequent procession. For guests of the region the Magdalena church day offers the rare opportunity to experience a traditional church patrocinium with company and to dive afterwards into the village association life. Because active Leutascher associations arrange the afternoon program and feed the visitors with sweet and savory.

When the Egerländer formation of the Musikkapelle Leutasch plays after the procession at the festival square, everyone is already gathered. After the procession it goes to the festival area in front of the Ganghofer Museum, where every year different music groups perform.
Specialties not too scarce
In addition to culinary delights (from the soccer club, the farmers' wives, and the Steinrösler), the various clubs will be offering their specialties: The rifle company is present with a shooting range, also the soccer club, the tennis club, the ski club Leutasch and the volunteer fire department. There will also be something for the children with a bouncy castle, a climbing tower and many other games. The young farmers together with the rural youth are responsible for the operation of the liquor bar. Because people like to party until midnight!
The culinary offer ranges from Kirchtagskrapfen to grilled food and vegetarian stew.
