Hardly any other animal forms such a deep relationship with humans as the dog. For most dog lovers, it is therefore natural to enjoy a wonderful time together with their beloved furry friends during the holidays. Tyrol's high plateau offers everything in a breathtaking mountain scenery - from active mountain tours to wellness.
For many people, their two-legged companions have become valued family members they do not want to miss even on vacation. And dogs also enjoy taking extensive walks with their owners, climbing a mountain peak, frolicking around wildly, or chilling by a sparkling body of water. Therefore, the Seefeld region is not only a paradise for two-legged guests but also for their four-legged companions.
For dog lovers and hotelier Alois Seyrling, the region is particularly attractive for dogs. "The flat high plateau offers perfect walking and dog-walking routes directly from the town center and without the use of a vehicle – for example, for the morning walk around the Seefelder Wildsee, for afternoon strolls in Wildmoos and for evening walks through the expansive pedestrian zone and back over the Pfarrerbichl." Furthermore, emphasizes the Klosterbräu hotelier, dogs are welcome in almost all restaurants, huts, shops, or alpine lodges in the region. Often dogs are provided with a water bowl or offered a nice spot under the table. Local dog lovers particularly recommend the Gasthaus Brücke in Leutasch, the Gaistalalm, the Gasthaus Triendlsäge, or the Rotmoos- and Wangalm as extremely dog-friendly. Seyrling: "In our hotel, furry noses are just as warmly welcomed and are received with our concept 'Five Stars for Four Paws.' Dogs are part of our family, and therefore we know from our own experience what really matters when traveling with dogs."
Where the mountains call and dogs are welcome
With enough mutual respect, the entire region is ideal for extended walks – by the way, even in winter! – or mountain tours in an impressive mountain setting, as well as delightful refreshments in the numerous bodies of water, or cozy stops in various restaurants and lodges. As a must-see, Infobüro staff member and dog lover Andrea recommends a walk along the Leutascher Ache, which flows through the 16-kilometer-long valley. Especially on hot days, the scenic route is worth it and can be adapted in scope: Depending on your mood and condition, you can comfortably take the bus back to the starting point. Usually, there is a bus stop in every village near the creek, and both two-legged and four-legged friends (please note the muzzle requirement for the latter!) can ride for free with the guest card during the duration of their stay.

Water fun with your four-legged friend - The most beautiful places for hot days
Even dogs that enjoy jumping into cool waters find their opportunities at the high plateau. Next to the Leutascher Ache, the dog exercise area at the entrance of the Gaistal provides free running pleasure, and at the Ferchensee (near Mittenwald) as well as the – aperiodic – Lotten- and Wildmoossee, there are also bathing opportunities for people and pets. The Wildsee also invites you to swim. However, dogs are not allowed to swim in the Möserer See, in the Lautersee (also near Mittenwald), and in the Weidachsee fishing pond.

Numerous accommodations gladly welcome loyal companions, with some hotels or holiday homes even offering their own specials for the furry friends. Comfort and well-being with all senses are not only reserved for pet owners in these establishments but also include dogs in their well-being package.
Besides the Hotel Klosterbräu, the Lärchenhof Seefeld, the Inntalerhof Mösern, the Hotel "Zum Gourmet" Seefeld, the Bergresort Seefeld, and the Alpin Resort Sacher Seefeld are recommended as "paw-check certified" hotels with special dog services. In total, there are currently 275 accommodations of various categories and types in the region with the designation "Pets Welcome".

Code of Conduct
To ensure a conflict-free coexistence, dog owners must pay attention to some important rules. In the entire region, there is a leash requirement in towns, on all paths, and in open areas. An exception to this is a generously sized dog free zone in Leutasch, where dogs can enjoy free run for 1.5 kilometers. To keep this impressive vacation destination as beautiful as it is, dog waste must be picked up in a bag and disposed of in designated containers. Free dog waste bag dispensers and trash bins are available throughout the region. Additionally, there is a muzzle requirement for public transport and closed mountain railways across Tyrol. Care is also necessary during encounters with grazing livestock. Extra caution is especially advised around mother cow herds, as mother animals and bulls may aggressively defend their calves due to their natural protective instincts. Hikers should also maintain a sufficient distance from frolicking young animal herds.
General Dog Rules
- Leash Requirement: There is a leash requirement throughout the region, both on hiking trails and in open areas - exception: Dog Play Area Leutasch.
- Dog Waste Disposal: Please pick up dog waste in a bag and dispose of it in a designated container. Free dog waste bag dispensers and trash bins are available throughout the region.
- Muzzle Requirement: Dogs must wear a muzzle in public transport and enclosed mountain railways like the Rosshütte cable cars.
- Path Rules: Please stay on designated paths to protect the vegetation and avoid erosion. Dogs should always be kept under control and on a short leash, ensuring that the dog meets other people or animals calmly.
