Seefeld and Football: For True Peak Performance

Play at the highest level – in Seefeld, this is more than just a saying. The plateau of the region is located at 1,200 m and impresses with its ideal altitude. The football fields in Seefeld, Scharnitz, and Leutasch are embedded in the stunning mountain world of the Karwendel and Wetterstein mountains. In the tranquility of nature, athletes find their focus and can concentrate on the upcoming seasons. The numerous wellness facilities in the region ensure optimal regeneration after training. It's no wonder that the region has the highest density of wellness businesses in the Alpine region. For training-free days, the Seefeld region offers a wide range of activities, and it is not uncommon to find stars enjoying an evening at one of the numerous huts.

Seefeld has already hosted the Olympic Games three times – in 1964, 1976, and 2012 (Youth Games). In 2019, another major Nordic event took place: the FIS Nordic Ski World Championships 2019. As part of the World Championships, the infrastructure in Seefeld was expanded. However, they did not only build for winter but also thought long-term and beyond. Thus, the summer facilities also benefit from the investments. The Arena365 is sustainably utilized, making the region a top destination for elite sports year-round. The football pitches in Seefeld are in top condition, allowing for games and training on perfectly maintained natural grass on the two football fields as well as the small field. With the construction of the new bypass, the football pitch in Scharnitz was also newly laid out, offering a larger area and a new clubhouse.

Many well-known football teams have known for years that Seefeld is the perfect region for a training camp. For example, RB Leipzig, whose team regularly prepares for the upcoming season in the Seefeld region. Dynamo Kyiv, Manchester City, Galatasaray Istanbul, VFL Wolfsburg, and many other professional teams have also refined their training in Seefeld. The ÖFB is also coming to the region for the umpteenth time. Amateur teams also like to use the region for a training camp.

Real relaxation in Seefeld for real excitement at the EURO! The German national football team held its training camp in Seefeld from late May to early June 2021.

While the German players chose the region as the ideal place for preparation, the Austrian national team set up its base camp in Seefeld during the European Championship: For nearly four weeks in June 2021, the ÖFB pitched its tents in Seefeld and Mösern. The football-experienced Hotel Nidum served as a well-being oasis for both the ÖFB team and the German competitors. Training sessions were conducted on the natural grass pitches in Seefeld.

ÖFB team coach Franco Fonda was already looking forward to the intense training period in Seefeld before arriving: "We found a very good mix of locations and hotels to train optimally and focus. For me, short distances to both the training pitches and the airport were particularly important criteria. In addition, the players should have the opportunity to clear their heads. We opted for a purely Austrian solution, as we want to be close to our fans on the one hand, and on the other hand, take advantage of the excellent conditions at home to fully recharge our batteries during this important phase."
