Things to do in SPRING
Things you must do in spring
Spring is here! Finally longer days, warm sunshine, and blooming meadows again. Admittedly, here in Tyrol, spring would rather deserve the label "late" – or at least "later" – as it arrives a bit delayed compared to many other places. On our high plateau, spring looks a little different: from fresh snow to summery warm sunshine, everything can be part of it. That’s exactly why you can (almost!) do everything in the spring with us. We’ve gathered a few ideas on how you can make the most of this spring.
Breathe in spring while forest bathing
Take a deep breath and let the fresh spring air flow deep into your lungs. The forest smells wonderfully of earth and leaves - and of new beginnings! The first delicate flowers are already sprouting from the ground and the birds are chirping cheerfully. Pure spring feelings! Take some time for yourself and bathe in the spring forest.

Switch to summer
The winter was primarily one thing: snowy! The mountain cable cars are now taking a short break before starting the summer season. You can also take your time transitioning to summer: Wax your skis one more time before putting them away in the cellar (this is the best way to prepare them for next winter), swap your heavy winter jacket for a lighter one, and bring out your hiking boots instead. They also appreciate a bit of care, such as leather grease or a layer of water-repellent spray (to prevent wet feet on your first hike). Finally, you can also clean off the winter dust from your bike (don’t forget to oil the chain). That way, you are ready for the summer season: If you want to get started, everything is already prepared for you!

Simply enjoy the sun
Simply do nothing. Just lie in the sun. Just soak up some vitamin D. Just be. In many places, spring is also referred to as "Lenz". This probably gives rise to the saying "to make a lazy Lenz". It means: In spring, just relax and recharge your batteries.

Start into the hiking season
The snow still covers the peaks and mountains around the region. Winter has brought a lot of snow that will stay for a while longer. So it's not yet time to go high – but you can still get started with the hiking season. The best preparation for hiking is, after all: hiking! 😉 Our favorite tips for spring: The Brunschkopf, the 3-Lakes Round Tour (Wildmoossee, Lottensee, Möserer See), a hike on or around the Gschwandkopf, and the Bee Trail (also perfect for families with little explorers). Starting in early May, the popular Leutascher Ghost Gorge will be reopened – we will keep you updated on when that will happen.

Planning the summer
What have you planned for this summer? Standing on the summit at sunrise before anyone else and watching the golden sun rise? Spending a cozy night in a hut high up in the mountains? Exploring the mountain world with an e-bike and finding out where the best Kaiserschmarrn is? The possibilities are endless…! And summer somehow always feels too short. So you can already start planning now. Goals that should definitely be on your to-do list: Hike through the Karwendel on the Karwendel Höhenweg (make sure to book huts in advance), bike through the Gaistal with an e-bike or mountain bike and conquer a summit – the Hohe Munde, Reither Spitze, or the Gehrenspitze are particularly worthwhile destinations 😉

Get fit for the Karwendel March
Have you secured a spot for the Karwendelmarsch? Then you have a great (training) goal for the summer! In the Karwendelmarsch, you will cross the Karwendel mountain range from Scharnitz to Achensee – an impressive 52km to conquer (the route can also be completed with 35km to Eng). Such a march naturally requires some preparation, and it’s best to start as early as possible. In spring, you can start with some runs and the first hikes (see above) to prevent severe muscle soreness and nasty blisters.

For the brave: Jumping into the lake for the first time
How tough are you? Jumping into the lake in spring is a test of courage – but someone has to be the first. The water is still icy cold, but the sun is already strong and will surely warm you up afterwards.

Photographing the flower meadows
A picture for the gods: What a wonderful sight it is when the first crocuses sprout from the ground and transform the meadows into white-purple dotted floral carpets. And in the background, the white mountain peaks still shine. Take your camera or smartphone outside and capture these beautiful moments.

Opening the climbing season
The warm spring sun is a blessing for all climbers: It wonderfully warms the rock and thus provides perfect climbing fun outside. You should take a warm jacket for the shade, but in the sun, it's often comfortable to climb in just a T-shirt. Time to activate the biceps again and get fit for the climbing summer. From the end of April, the walls are ready for climbing again, as some walls and approaches are being renovated after the snowy winter.

Enjoying the trails for the last time
We can never get enough of cross-country skiing – and the time until the first autumn trail opens again is passing far too slowly for passionate cross-country skiing fans. So it's time to ski as long as possible! 😉 Best in the morning when the sun illuminates the first mountain peaks and the trails are freshly groomed. And the best part about spring cross-country skiing: regenerating in the warm sun!
