Autumn sun
The most beautiful sunny spots in autumn
On Tyrol's high plateau, autumn shows its most beautiful sunny sides. Here, no one is feeling gloomy just because summer may already be over somewhere else. Quite the opposite! Golden larch forests, soft light, and a truly unique atmosphere: Autumn outshines itself with its play of colors, and the high plateau invites with sunny hours, while in lower areas thick fog is already hanging. The perfect opportunity for a break with extensive hikes, varied bike tours, and hut evenings with limitless views! We have visited the coziest sunny spots, the most scenic panoramic paths, and the most delicious alpine huts and will tell you when and where it's most beautiful!
The Golden Morning in the Seefeld Region
- Sunrise tour at Panorama Path Reith with viewpoint Kaiserstand & waterfall
- Royal Tour with overnight stay and breakfast at the Nördlinger Hütte below the Reither Spitze
- Overnight stay with breakfast at Hämmermoosalm or Wangalm in the Leutascher Almenparadies Gaistal
- Morning walk around Gschwandkopf and through the larch forests in the Reither Auland

For truly picturesque sunrises, you don't have to be an early riser in autumn. At Seefeld Gschwandtkopf, the sun rises only around about seven o'clock in the morning at the beginning of October. However, if you don't want to go straight to a summit, you can enjoy the golden morning atmosphere quite comfortably in the larch forests of Reither Auland, where beautiful panoramic views open up again and again. The associated hike around Gschwandtkopf can be reached from both Seefeld and Mösern. From Auland, the first rays of sunshine finally travel over the Reither Panoramaweg to the viewpoint Kaiserstand. Those who take the same route can indulge in a fresh breakfast at the village square from the traditional bakers in Reith on the way back. If, on the other hand, you conquer the Königstour to Reither Spitze (2,373 m) the day before, you can simply greet the sun while having an alpine breakfast at the Nördlinger Hütte. The rustic Hämmermoosalm in Leutascher Gaistal also offers overnight stays with breakfast until the end of October and is perfectly situated just about a 20-minute walk from the Salzbach hiking parking lot, making it ideal for a spontaneous sun greeting. For those who prefer a more active morning in Gaistal, after about a two-hour approach, you can also enjoy breakfast with a southeast view from the sun terrace at Wangalm, and overnight stays can also be arranged here upon request.
Sunny Side High Plateau: Up to 12 Hours of Sunshine Daily
- Cozy sunbathing spots at the most beautiful places in the region
- Rauthhütte with gourmet cuisine and Zugspitzblick
- Rotmoosalm with 12 hours of sun and breakfast from 7 AM
- Wildmoos Nature Reserve with Brunschkopf Viewing Platform
- 18-hole Golf Club Seefeld-Wildmoos

As the first peaks shine golden in the sunlight, the autumn day truly picks up pace on Tyrol's high plateau. Some "sunny spots" one has to earn here, while others are just around the corner. The new viewpoint above the Leutascher Cultural House Ganghofermuseum can be reached from Kirchplatzl in about ten minutes – but one can also take a very pleasant sunny round at the Höhenweg Runst if desired. The route from Leutasch to the Rauthhütte presents itself pleasantly cool in the morning. Afterwards, one enjoys a lot of warmth there, a view of the Zugspitze, and high alpine gourmet cuisine. However, it is brightest at the Rotmoosalm in Gaistal: Here, even in autumn, there are almost twelve hours of sunshine, and breakfast is served from seven in the morning. In the afternoon, the landscape protection area Wildmoos near Seefeld also offers long light – perfect for a cozy tour to the viewing platform, a round around the Brunschkopf, or a round of golf on 18 spectacular fairways.
Alpenglow: Truly Exclusive Evening Atmosphere
- Storage Lake & Sonnenalm at Seefeld Gschwandkopf
- Bergbahnen Rosshütte, Seefelder Joch & Panorama Via Ferrata Seefelder Spitze

The most beautiful autumn days can be rounded off on Tirol's high plateau with long sunsets and impressive displays of color. For instance, at the Seefeld Gschwandtkopf, where the reservoir and the Sonnenalm offer truly breathtaking views. Those who prefer to seek a real adventure in the evening can take the last lift to the Rosshütte restaurant and continue to the panorama climbing route Seefelder Spitze. There follows perhaps the most spectacular sunset tour with a wide view across the entire Inn Valley. Visitors can also enjoy the evening at Ropferstub’m in Buchen without hiking. Upon request, the traditional "Törggelen" is served with the last rays of sunshine – those strolling from Mösern towards the sunset will bring along enough appetite. Those not afraid of a little walk can take the cozy circular route to the viewpoint Kurblhang in Leutasch. Here, one might enjoy the exclusive evening atmosphere all alone with a bit of luck. After a short ascent, the viewpoint Adlerkanzel in Scharnitz also rewards with plenty of sunshine. Via Birzl Chapel and Karwendel Bridge, a beautiful round is formed – alternatively, a walk to the Sonnenbankl at Kalvarienberg and back via Porta Claudia will lead you there.
