The 7 best leisure bike tours in the Region Seefeld
As short as possible uphill, as long as possible pure enjoyment. That’s exactly the kind of bike tours I like most. Want to bet you’ll love them too?
I have to be honest: long bike tours are not for me. My backside just starts hurting way too quickly. Since my wife knows this, our tour choices are always based on a pleasure-focused compromise: there has to be a cozy hut along the way and the elevation gain needs to stay manageable. Below you’ll find my favorite leisure bike tours in the Region Seefeld.
1. Atmosphere & Stratosphere at the Eppzirler Alm
We’ll start with the most challenging tour on this list—so that any muscle soreness will only get easier from here. On the way to the Eppzirler Alm, 447 vertical meters need to be conquered. For me, that’s already quite a lot; for others, it might feel like a breeze. Either way: the atmosphere up here is worth every drop of sweat. The flat alpine meadow, surrounded by steep rock faces and mountain peaks—it’s simply an unforgettable feeling. And when innkeeper Christian serves his legendary speck and cheese dumplings with cabbage, my taste buds shoot straight to the stratosphere, and I’ve long forgotten the climb.
- Highlights: Gießenbach Valley & Eppzirl in the Karwendel
- Refreshments: Eppzirler Alm, Gasthof Ramona
2. An Award-Winning Hut. Literally.
A similar experience with far fewer vertical meters awaits at the Hämmermoosalm in the Gaistal. It’s our first stop in the “Alpine Hut Paradise”, which we’ll be returning to later in this list. Is the Hämmermoos just one of many huts? Not at all. Named Alpine Hut of the Year 2025, it shines with more than awards. Hosts Christian and Eveline have created a truly special menu that easily rivals the panoramic view from the terrace for the top spot on the highlights list.
Tip: Start your ride up to the Hämmermoos either early in the morning or on a weekday, as the sunny seats up here can fill up quickly.
- Highlights: Gaistal, Leutasch River, Kneipp pool at Salzbach
- Refreshments: Hämmermoosalm
3. It doesn’t get fresher than this
From a sunny terrace straight into the heart of the Karwendel. This tour through the Gleirschtal is overall a leisurely ride, only interrupted by a short but steep climb. If your calves aren’t exactly well-trained, an e-bike could come in handy here. Once you’ve tackled it, the Möslalm awaits—with cows grazing right in front of the hut. This is a genuine working alpine farm, meaning you can literally watch the producers of your dairy dishes at work. Doesn’t get any fresher than that! Along the way, you’ll cross the River Isar, pass lush alpine meadows, and feel the powerful presence of the Karwendel peaks. Take your time and stop here and there—you won’t regret it.
- Highlights: Gleirschtal in the Karwendel, view of the Gleirschklamm Gorge
- Refreshments: Möslalm, Café in der Länd
4. With the Stag Down into the Inn Valley
After our adventures in Leutasch and Scharnitz, it’s time for what might be the most relaxed tour on this list. On this lovely loop through Reith, you’ll only climb just over 100 vertical meters. The postcard potential here is virtually unlimited. Whether it’s the flair of the narrow lanes or the sweeping views of the Kalkkögel mountains and the Inn Valley—your eyes are feasting here every bit as much as your stomach. Especially if you stop at Gasthof Hirschen, where a hearty onion roast lands straight on your plate (and no longer just in your gaze). Many of the dishes here are homemade, which makes sustainability and regional flavor enthusiasts particularly happy.
- Highlights: Views of the Inn Valley, larch forests
- Refreshments: Gasthof Hirschen, All Reith, Berta’s at the Weissen Rössl, Reitherhof
5. Free Therapy Session
This relaxed route takes you right across the Leutasch Valley, following the Leutascher Ache all the way to your destination: The Leutasch Spirit Gorge. For me, this little journey always has a therapeutic effect. Be it the sound of rushing water, the barely noticeable incline, or the gentle nature all around—negative thoughts simply vanish with the breeze and make room for culinary delights. Along the way, you’ll find Gasthof Brücke and Gasthof zur Mühle, two true local favorites. Far enough off the main tourist routes, they still count as genuine insider tips. Travel and dine here, and you’ll experience the region the way it really is.
- Highlights: Riverside path, The Leutasch Spirit Gorge
- Refreshments: Gasthof Brücke, Gasthof Mühle, Bärenwirt, Zum Klammgeist, Klammstüberl
6. Dumpling Heaven in Paradise
Before we head to the grand finale, we return once more to the Gaistal. A place beloved by bikers, hikers, cows, marmots—basically anyone who enjoys mountain air and alpine cuisine. While the animals feast on grass and herbs, humans get to enjoy what are probably the best cheese dumplings in all of Tirol! You’ll find them at the Tillfussalm, only 174 vertical meters from the parking lot and bus stop. But don’t be fooled—once you’ve rounded the first curve, you’ll feel like you’ve entered another world. Always accompanied by the Leutascher Ache, you’re flanked by the Mieming Range and the Wetterstein Mountains—two mighty massifs whose peaks will leave you in awe, amazement, or both.
- Highlights: Gaistal, Leutascher Ache, Kneipp pool at Salzbach
- Refreshments: Tillfussalm
7. The Grand Finale
Wildmoos. A retreat, an oasis, a true gem. Anyone who hasn’t been to Wildmoos is missing something in life. Up here, just 150 meters above Seefeld, even an e-bike feels slow. Not because you’re not pedaling, but because time itself seems to stand still, savoring the breathtaking natural spectacle. Alright, enough praise—let’s get to the facts. Along your route, you’ll pass two inns, Wildmoosalm and Ropferstub’m, both fulfilling every dream of Tyrolean delicacies. You’ll also encounter a mysterious lake that sometimes appears, sometimes doesn’t—pure luck. And above all, you’ll be surrounded by nature that even the Creator himself would be proud of. All that’s left to say: enjoy it to the fullest.
- Highlights: Wildmoos
- Refreshments: Wildmoosalm, Ropferstub’m
