Holiday with Dog
A Getaway with Your Dog
Few animals form such a deep bond with humans as dogs. For most dog lovers, it’s only natural to want to enjoy a wonderful time with their beloved furry companions while on holiday. Tirol’s High Plateau offers everything in a breathtaking mountain setting – from active mountain hikes to wellness experiences.
For many people, their four-legged companions have become cherished family members they don't want to be without, even on holiday. Dogs, too, love to take long walks with their owners, climb mountain peaks, run wild, or relax by a sparkling body of water. The Seefeld region is therefore not only a paradise for two-legged guests but also for their four-legged friends.
For dog lover and hotelier Alois Seyrling, the region is especially attractive for four-legged visitors. "The flat high plateau offers perfect strolls and dog walks directly from the town centre, without the need for a vehicle – for example, a morning walk around Lake Wildsee, an afternoon stroll in Wildmoos, and an evening walk through the expansive pedestrian zone and back via the Pfarrerbichl." Additionally, Seyrling emphasises, dogs are welcome in nearly all restaurants, huts, shops, or alpine lodges in the region. Often, dogs are provided with a water bowl or given a nice spot under the bench. Local dog lovers particularly recommend Gasthaus Brücke in Leutasch, Gaistalalm, Gasthaus Triendlsäge, as well as Rotmoos and Wangalm for being exceptionally dog-friendly. Seyrling says: "In our hotel, furry companions are just as warmly welcomed and treated with our 'Five Stars for Four Paws' concept, just like their two-legged companions. Dogs are part of our family, and so we know from personal experience what truly matters when travelling with dogs."

Where the Mountains Call and Dogs Are Welcome
With enough mutual respect, the entire region is ideal for long strolls – even in winter! – or mountain hikes in a breathtaking alpine setting, as well as for refreshing stops at the many bodies of water or cosy breaks in various restaurants and alpine huts. A must-do, according to Andrea, an Information Office staff member and dog lover, is a walk along the Leutascher Ache, which flows through the 16-kilometre valley. Especially on hot days, the scenic route is worth it and can be adapted to suit your fitness level: Depending on your mood and stamina, you can easily take the bus back to the starting point. There is usually a bus stop near the river in every village, and both two- and four-legged companions (the latter must have a muzzle) can travel for free with the guest card for the duration of their stay.

The Region Seefeld is not only a paradise for two-legged guests, but also for their four-legged companions.
Water Fun with Your Four-Legged Friend – The Best Spots for Hot Days
Dogs who love to jump into cool waters will also find their opportunities on the high plateau. In addition to the Leutascher Ache, the dog exercise area at the entrance to Gaistal offers plenty of space for running freely. There are also swimming options for both humans and dogs at Ferchensee (near Mittenwald), as well as at the aperiodic Lotten and Wildmoos lakes. Wildsee also invites dogs for a swim. However, dogs are not allowed to swim in Möserer See, Lautersee (also near Mittenwald), and the Weidachsee fishing pond.

When the Dog Becomes the Guest of Honour – The Most Welcoming Accommodations for Two- and Four-Legged Guests
Numerous accommodations warmly welcome loyal companions, with some hotels or holiday homes even offering special perks for furry friends. Comfort and well-being for all the senses in these establishments is not only reserved for humans but also includes dogs in their wellness packages.
In addition to Hotel Klosterbräu, the Lärchenhof Seefeld, Inntalerhof Mösern, Hotel "Zum Gourmet" Seefeld, Bergresort Seefeld, and Alpin Resort Sacher Seefeld are recommended as "Paw-Check Certified" hotels with special dog services. Overall, there are currently 275 accommodations of various categories and types in the region that are labelled "Pets Welcome."

Golfing with Your Dog
In the Seefeld region, golf and a love for dogs go hand in hand. Golfers are welcome to share the joy of a perfect tee-off with their four-legged friends by their side.
Note: At Golfclub Seefeld Reith, dogs are only allowed with prior registration!

Code of Conduct
To ensure a harmonious coexistence, dog owners should observe a few important rules of conduct. There is a general leash requirement throughout the region, in towns, on all paths, and in open terrain. An exception is a large dog off-leash area in Leutasch, where dogs can enjoy free run for 1.5 kilometres. To keep the impressive holiday destination as beautiful as it is, dog waste must be picked up in a bag and disposed of in designated bins. Free dog waste bag dispensers and trash bins are available throughout the region. Additionally, there is a muzzle requirement on public transport and in enclosed mountain cable cars across Tyrol. Caution is also required when encountering livestock. Special care should be taken when meeting mother cow herds, as mother animals and bulls can defend their calves vigorously due to their natural protective instincts. Wanderers should also maintain enough distance from playful young animal herds.
General Dog Rules
- Leash Requirement: There is a leash requirement throughout the region, both on hiking trails and in open terrain – exception: Dog area (off-leash) in Leutasch
- Disposing of Dog Waste: Please collect dog waste in a bag and dispose of it in designated bins. Free dog waste bag dispensers and trash bins are available throughout the region
