SUMMER
Ready for an unforgettable summer? Here are our top tips for families
Summer on the high plateau is the perfect time for families. Adventures for the little ones, relaxation for the grown-ups, and plenty of memories to fill your photo album. Use these tips to create unforgettable memories together.
Multi-talent Katzenkopf
In the summer, the Katzenkopf transforms into one big adventure playground. From laid-back to action-packed, the mountain is a true all-rounder when it comes to leisure activities. The top highlights:
- Beautiful hiking trails and beginner-friendly trails in the bike park blend together perfectly here.
- On the new summer toboggan run, you can zoom back down the mountain and have a blast.
- You can also play disc golf at Katzenkopf: the goal is to throw a disc into designated baskets. You can find a list of available discs and scorecards at the Katzenkopf hut.
- At the Katzenkophütte, indulgence and relaxation are the order of the day, and a magnificent panoramic view comes free of charge.
- With the guest card, you also receive a 50% discount on one round-trip ticket once per stay (subject to change).
The natural treasure called Geisterklamm
Roaring turquoise water, a 40-meter-high bridge, and an impressive waterfall: the Geisterklamm is one of the region’s top attractions. Children, in particular, will be in constant awe. An elaborately designed themed trail winds through the gorge on various loops. Young visitors can explore this natural gem in a playful way. Captivating stories, numerous games, and an authentic nature experience await. The trail begins and ends at the Geisterklamm parking lot. For a stress-free trip, we recommend taking the bus (stop “Geisterklamm”), which is included in the guest card.
Animal experiences
Not only dogs are welcome on Tyrol's high plateau, you can also get very close to many other animals here.
- At the Tyrolean Bio Alpaca Farm in Seefeld, you can watch these friendly animals and, upon reservation, take them for a walk.
- At "Sigis Saufhaufen" petting zoo, there are miniature goats, miniature donkeys, lop-eared rabbits, and many other adorable farm animals to pet and cuddle.
- There are a particularly large number of squirrels to be seen around lake Wildsee.
- You can go fishing at Weidachsee in Leutasch (no fishing license required)
Water worlds
Water holds a special fascination for children, and in the height of summer, the water play areas on Tyrol’s high plateau offer a wonderful way to cool off.
- With the Olympiabad Seefeld and the Alpenbad Leutasch water park, there are two swimming pools in the region where you can let loose on various water slides, among other things
- At Wildsee, the Strandperle outdoor pool and the Strandcafé Sonja forest pool are popular attractions
- Lake Möserer See is tucked away in the woods and is perfect for a refreshing dip.
- There are many places to play and picnic along the Leutascher Ache, such as the Salzbach water features
- You can find all our tips in our Water Guide
Really great playgrounds
On Tyrol’s high plateau, nature is the biggest and most beautiful playground of all. Of course, there are also dedicated playgrounds where kids can run around.
There’s plenty to do at the new playground Seekirchl or the mining-themed adventure playground on the Rosshütte. The playground at Gschwandtkopf has also been redesigned. But why not see for yourself which one you like best?
Nature experience and spirit of discovery
Getting kids excited about hiking isn’t always easy. But if you add an element of adventure to the hike, it becomes much easier. In addition to the Geisterklamm Gorge, the Bee nature trail in Reith with its bee hotel, is truly one-of-a-kind. Along the Reith Forest Trail, 14 stations and information boards provide details about these beneficial insects. At the bee hotel, you can safely watch the colorful activity inside the hive through a glass window. And of course, there’s also a stamp station—so be sure to pick up your stamp passport at one of the information offices beforehand!
